I have uploaded to the Videos page an interview that I just completed and uploaded for the I'm Vegan project. It's a brief introduction to his views, as well as a brief summary of his vegan story. So, check it out. Maybe it will get you fired up for Prof. Francione's talk on May 7th!
FAQs? That's right: plural. Two. Two sets of frequently asked questions. And here's why:
Non-vegans require one set of questions, and so the first FAQ is geared toward walking them from what a vegan is to becoming vegan.
The second FAQ was written for people who already vegan, but who are unfamiliar with or perhaps confused by the abolitionist approach to animal rights and unclear on the sorts of advocacy in which we ought to be engaged.
Both FAQs can both be accessed from the main FAQ page.
Over this Memorial Day weekend, the BVA migrated to the Drupal platform for our new website (from Joomla), which will be easier to maintain and should provide a smoother user experience. We also have a brand new design, which we feel better reflects our mission and community. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Unfortunately, we ran into a glitch with user migration and the old passwords are not working. Fortunately, the solution is easy: just go to our sign in page and use the Request new password function to reset your password (it will send you an email with instructions). If you don't see the email in your inbox, be sure to check your spam/junk folder and whitelist the BVA (emails from bostonvegan.org)!
Thanks to John Eckman for coding and migration!
Thanks to Jo Tyler for great design, especially our new header image!
Note: Jo also created several new banner images for us.
Note: we are still finishing up some backend tasks and content revisions/creation. Please be patient while we complete this work.
Some new features:
- User profiles now contain a "Bio" section and "Vegan Since" - please log in and update your profile.
- Events Calendar upgrades (now based on google calendar).
- Forums upgrades (using Drupal content-management), including new sort options and a cool text editor for posting replies.
- New content: About | Mission | Leadership | Restaurants | Volunteer | Promote the BVA
Now available is the BVA's 8-page abolitionist vegan outreach pamphlet, Respecting Animals Means Going Vegan. To receive free hard copies of this pamphlet to use in advocacy work or personal interactions, please visit veganpamphlet.com for details and an application form.
